We used to go out every day practically. Then when we started moving farther and farther apart; we made a point of hanging out once a week. Thus boys night out was born. We couldn't keep it up but it was fun! This week's Featured Place
For the first half of BNO we spent it moving Vinny and driving all the way to Hayward. After that we went to eat at Sazio Ristorante Italiano.Place serves Italian and Sicilian cuisine. Basically the best Italian food I've ever tasted. And I've made pasta from scratch with my Dad and Uncle. This was better. Makes whatever you have seem like microwaved fast food.
To start off we had some beers. Poor Vinny turns twenty one in a couple weeks but still couldn't get a beer. I doubt his fake ID would have worked here though. haha. They have Italian beers but we weren't that daring. Joe and Pete would have loved it. They also have a bar. Yum.
We had some garlic bread wedges topped with chopped tomato. The firm little cubes were great. I forgot all about the olive oil at first. Oops!
The salad was served regional style. No croutons here baby. Leaves, a couple rings of onion, and lots of vinegar, oil and oregano. Not like Chili's which tries to stuff you with veggies. We were also served some more bread. This is the hard stuff good for scooping up the sauces and such. Smother with butter and olive oil and its a yummy snack. The fennel and poppy seed bread I had at my side of the table (that I devoured all by myself) was wonderful. Careful eating though and don't scrap off the herbs in your mouth and start chomping on a lot. Real strong that way!
Very quickly we were served our meals. Vinny took longer to decide what he wanted to eat. He got served last but personally by Cindy. All we got was Antonio. Bet he had some special sauce too! I had the lasagna. Mike the rigatoni I believe. Franco and Scott the Chicken Parmesan. Vinny had the cheese ravioli in tomato sauce. I got to sample one. Yummy. What a nice guy. I love you! I got the grated Parmesan. I don't see how the guy can spread it so smoothly with a spoon. Must take talent.
The lasagna was succulent. You have to use anything more than a fork anywhere else and your getting robbed. The pasta was so smooth and supple it made me want to eat it with my fingers. Damn good. Better than good simply the best I've ever had.
After that nectar Vinny "made" us get dessert. Franco also had a drop of Tamboca. Stuff is a clear liquor that you sip and it still knocks you on your ass. I took a whiff and sip and was being scorched all the way down. Warms ya up. The dessert had a bread like bottom. Was soaked with liquor and was almost like a pudding. There was filling and more liquor then more filling then more liquor. I forget the actual name Vinny gave to it. Was damn good. The chocolate cheese cake that Antonio said he made was good too. Vinny had his doubts that he made it. haha I guess he's not known for his cooking. I felt we should have toasted Vinny but that's okay. He's not going anywhere. This wasn't 'good bye' it was 'see you later'.
Moral of the story. If your in the area, or if you want the Best Italiano Food without getting your passport and Visa card, then go to Sazio. You'll be FULL when you leave. Just don't have a big lunch and you'll have enough for dessert. And here the prices won't leave your crying like when you Leave Las Vegas....Sazio Location
